PRESS RELEASE: Virginia Senate Candidate Greg Moulthrop Speaks about Running a Campaign All About Solutions on WMAL’s O’Connor and Company

LOUDOUN, VA — On Monday morning, Virginia Senate candidate Greg Moulthrop spoke on O’Connor & Company on News Talk 105.9 WMAL about the damage divisive identify politics is having on our communities across Virginia. During his discussion with show host Larry O’Connor, Greg Moulthrop emphasized the importance of bringing back civility and kindness to one another, especially with those having diverse backgrounds.

“I’m figuring out a way to get back to the time when two people across the aisle can argue on the Senate floor and then go out to get drinks or dinner afterwards,” Greg Moulthrop said. “And still have some civility and friendship. We don’t have that anymore.”

Greg Moulthrop is not afraid to unify both Republicans and Democrats, even in the midst of controversy.

Virginia State Senate District 32, VPAP

Virginia’s 32nd Senate District, Eastern Loudoun County pictured above, has historically given a ~20% advantage for Democrats. With Senator John Bell withdrawing from this election due to health reasons and viewed as a moderate Democrat, Greg, a moderate conservative thinks that Loudoun County is ready for a moderate candidate from the other side of the aisle. Greg doesn’t just talk but leads through action, hence he brought in a Senior Democrat Advisor.

“And I’m not just talking about some guy that votes Democrat ticket,” Mr. Moulthrop said.

Moulthrop for Virginia’s Democrat Advisor was formerly a Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for two notable U.S. Democrat Senators. Frustrated with the left’s identify politics stopping good solutions, he supported Greg Moulthrop's campaign to earn the votes from the independents and moderate Democrats in eastern Loudoun County.

Larry O’Connor asked, “Voters are going to want to know, what does that mean exactly? … how does it change in terms of the policy positions? … [Where voters] might say ‘Oh, wait a minute. I don’t expect a Republican to hold that position.’”

“I’m not saying I’m going to be the candidate that compromises,” said candidate Greg Moulthrop.

Recently a Loudoun County resident asked him, “Do you believe in climate change?” This is certainly a subject both political parties refuse to work together on.

“The reason why I’m in favor of clean renewable energy is the same reason I don’t litter. I don’t want to live in a landfill. I don’t want to live in a dump,” Mr. Moulthrop replied. “I need to breathe air, drink water, and eat food just like anybody else.”

Greg Moulthrop explains despite the rage around climate change, it shouldn’t matter if you believe it or not. Everyone wants clean air, water, and soil. We all have a self-interest in taking care of our environment.

“So we may not have the same goal in mind, but we can agree on how we get there,” Greg Moulthrop mentioned.

Larry O’Connor responded, “Just figure out what we can agree on.”

Whether your goal is to fight climate change or have clean air in your community, we can accomplish both by agreeing how to get there.

As Senator Greg Moulthrop, he will unify diverse ideologies and create solutions – like forming a cleaner environment – by focusing on our similarities, not the differences.

General Election: November 7, 2023 〰️

“In Virginia, this November, this is the opportunity to really flip the Senate … give [Governor Youngkin] a Republican Senate and you’ll actually see what he ran on implemented,” Larry O’Connor explained. “As far as I’m concerned, the Virginia state Senate is a legislative body where you have to get the majority, or nothing is going to happen.”

In 2021, Greg Moulthrop ran for the House of Delegates with Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, and Attorney General Jason Miyares. As a parent and entrepreneur, Mr. Moulthrop was angry by the prolonged school, economic shutdowns and the violations against personal liberties.

“I just had enough,” Greg Moulthrop said. “Came out swinging [conservative] and at the end of the race, the incumbent was reelected … I realized I misread the district.”

“So being an entrepreneur and somebody that has failed businesses … I didn’t take this as a failure as much as I did a lesson in how to not run a campaign in Loudoun County. So this time around, I’m doing something wildly different; something that’s risky too.”

“I don’t need to do this because I’m not looking for a career in politics … I’m in my forties, have a great career, a wife, two kids, two dogs. I’m doing this for public service.”

Greg Moulthrop isn’t running a campaign based on party politics, he’s running a campaign driven by solutions both sides can get behind. Learn more about Greg Moulthrop’s story and campaign here.
